Job Overview

Our employer, a dynamic Orthodox Jewish non-profit organization
, is seeking a Bookkeeper / Finance & Accounting Specialist to oversee financial operations, ensure accurate records, and support reporting and audits. The ideal candidate is organized, independent, and skilled in reconciling accounts and maintaining accurate financial information.

Responsibilities
  • Reconcile bank accounts and ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Review income and expense accounts for accuracy and completeness
  • Monitor grants, project funds, and restricted accounts
  • Reconcile payroll-related accounts and other internal financial data
  • Review invoices and outstanding payments
  • Process vendor payments via cheque, credit card, or online banking
  • Reconcile vendor and supplier accounts on a regular basis
Financial Reporting & Audit Support
  • Prepare month-end and year-end adjustments
  • Maintain organized records for accounting and reporting purposes
  • Assist in preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts
  • Prepare year‑end audit files and provide accurate information to external auditors
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and reporting requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Diploma or certificate in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field — required
  • 10+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience — required
  • Strong proficiency in Quick Books Online — required
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and database systems
