We are currently seeking a Senior Technologist to join our Toronto Studio to work onone of the most prominent federally owned projects.
Job Summary
The Senior Architectural Technologist is a senior technical leader who develops and coordinates detailed design and construction documentation for complex architectural projects. This role engages directly with clients, consultants, and authorities, supporting the full lifecycle of aproject and contributing to the technical leadership of the studio.
Key Responsibilities
Design + Documentation
Leadthe development of detailed construction and permit documents.
Translate design concepts into comprehensive design development and contractdocumentation.
Conduct advanced technical research and lead detailing development across project phases.
Reviewand ensure compliance with building codes, bylaws, and QA/QC standards.
Project Support + Coordination
Manage project execution from start to finish, including planning, scheduling,budgeting, scope definition, resourcing, and profitability.
Establish and adhere to office expectations for financial performance, staffing efficiency, and project milestones.
Lead regular internal project meetings and communicate status updates to Operations and the Partner-in-Charge, at a minimum monthly.
Coordinate and oversee project activities, ensuring alignment with office Project Delivery processes, filing systems, and documentation standards.
Provide project status updates to the Partner in Charge or Project Manager.
Coordinate with subconsultants and lead multidisciplinary coordination efforts.
Liaise with clients, municipal officials, and regulatory agencies.
Support tendering processes, including bid package preparation.
Attend site meetings and perform shop drawing reviews and contract administration duties.
Ensureall work aligns with the firm’s Project Delivery standards, including proper use of filing systems, adherence to architectural procedures, and compliance with drawing and documentation protocols.
Team + Culture
Mentor junior and intermediate staff and contribute to a collaborative studio environment.
Promote high standards of professionalism, accountability, and quality.
Leadby example in aligning with the firm’s project delivery practices,standards, and values.
Actively contributes to the technical growth and knowledge sharing within the team.
Ableto work in a collaborative, in-office environment (100% in-office presence required to support direct team engagement and effective cross-functional coordination).
Qualifications
Architectural Technologist Diploma or related discipline from a recognized institution.
10+ years of experience in an architectural office.
Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD; familiarity with Revizto, Bluebeam, Sketch Up, and Navisworks is an asset.
Strong knowledge of construction systems, detailing, and code compliance.
Effective communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Abilityto coordinate multidisciplinary teams and contribute to project delivery goals.
