Senior Architectural Designer

Description of the company:

Our client is a Toronto-based architecture and design studio focused on shaping cities through projects of varied scale and purpose. Their work ranges from educational facilities, cultural spaces, and community hubs to housing, mixed-use developments, parks, and public realms. They collaborate with partners locally and internationally, bringing together design, research, and urban thinking to create places that are both meaningful and inventive, enhancing how people live, work, and connect.

Why is this role open:

Our client is seeking a maternity leave cover for one of their senior front-end designers, who will be going on leave in December. They’re looking for someone to step in and carry the torch during her absence.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the front-end design process on high-rise projects, from concept through to proposal and competition stages

• Collaborate with internal teams to develop and refine creative design solutions

• Produce high-quality design packages quickly and independently

• Contribute to schematic design development and visual presentation materials

Must-haves:

• Exceptional design sense with a strong aesthetic eye

• Ability to work quickly and independently with minimal direction

• Solid understanding of high-rise architecture and design principles

• Proven experience in concept, schematic, proposal, and competition work

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience working in a similar maternity leave coverage role

• Familiarity with ArchiCAD

Remote/Hybrid: 4 days in office

Compensation: Contract role for approximately 12 months with the possibility of permanent employment if the fit and finances align. Start date is targeted for October (flexible). Salary range: $90,000 – $115,000, depending on skills and experience.
