Overview
Intermediate Mechanical Engineer – Hydropower role ’ll join a team of about 20 turbine-generator specialists, working on hydroelectric projects across Canada. Based in our Toronto office, you’ll be involved in all phases of engineering projects, ensuring exceptional technical quality of deliverables. Occasional site visits are part of the role. You’ll identify and develop new business opportunities and mentor the Hydropower team to support growth.
Whatyou’ll do
- Manage and perform various mechanical projects for turbines, generators, mechanical speed governors, bearing lubrication and cooling, balancing and alignment of rotating parts, hydromechanical valves and balance of plant for refurbishment projects and new hydroelectric powerplants / pumped storage projects
- Play a leading role in client communications for your mandates
- Be a key team member in executing small to major modernization or new installation projects
- Solve complex problems related to mechanical components in hydroelectric power plants
- Identify, plan and organize client needs to assess the condition of their units and conduct power upgrade studies (turbines and generators)
- Lead onsite inspections, diagnostics, commissioning and testing
- Represent your area of expertise and promote it to potential clients and specialized groups in the hydropower sector
- Mentor and coach junior engineers by actively sharing knowledge and encouraging skill development
- Foster a workplace culture that promotes high-quality professional work
- University degree in mechanical engineering
- From 5 to 14 years of relevant experience in the hydropower sector
- Relevant experience with inspections, condition assessments, installation, commissioning and testing
- Registered P.Eng. with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) or another Canadian province
- Driver’s licence
