What is the Opportunity?

The Student Estimator will have the opportunity to support the civil east team in their process of offering proposals and working with the estimating team.

What You’ll Do Here:

  • Being mentored by Senior and Chief Estimators in bidding projects including construction approach
  • Pursuing various projects including a combination of private client proposals, design-build and bid-build projects ranging from roads, bridges, elevated guideways, airports, hydro power dams and many other heavy civil projects
  • Working with the estimating team on proposal preparation including:
    Quantity takeoff and updating estimate software with quantities Database analysis Subcontractor/Vendor solicitation Subcontractor/Vendor Quote comparisons & analysis Entering quotes into estimate software Assisting with project execution Assisting in design build process and working with design teams Preparing portions of estimates utilizing Hard Dollar Estimating software Preparing portions of schedules utilizing Primavera P6 software Preparation of handover documents to site team for successful bids

    • What You Bring to the Table:

  • Currently enrolled in a university or technical college diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for normal functions and special assignments.
  • Attention to detail, mathematical, analytical skills and accuracy.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Service orientation and ability to work effectively with a team environment.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Database and P6 knowledge an asset.
