Aecon is seeking an Environmental Coordinator to join our transformative infrastructure project within the GTA.
What You’ll Do Here:
Maintain the Environmental Management System and ensure compliance with applicable best practices, regulations, Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and site-specific plans.Provide reports and attend on-site meetings as required.Manage data collection, storage and analysis.Oversee daily construction activities to ensure work is completed in compliance with all relevant client requirements as well as provincial and/or federal regulations.Develop, implement, and monitor environmental programs and policies.Provide advice to project leadership regarding environmental matters as they relate to construction activities.Monitor construction activities and evaluate compliance with applicable standards, contract documents and client commitments.Monitor and report any potential environmental issues and recommendations for appropriate mitigation and corrective actions.Provide training to employees and contractors on environmental awareness.Draft, review and submit daily field reports, incident reports, and compliance audits.Track key project performance indicators and develop reports.Work with project coordinators/managers, using interpersonal and organizational skills to ensure projects are completed in accordance with an established scope of work.Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.What You Bring to the Team:
Technical diploma,
B.Sc., or equivalent with appropriate qualifications for work in Canada with a minimum of three years’ experience conducting construction site environmental monitoring activities.Certification in environmental specialty area preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.Relevant professional certification (e.g., PBiol, BIT, Trainee RBTech, AAg, EPt, etc.) or ability to obtain is an asset.Experience working successfully in large, multi-disciplinary engineering design teams and heavy civil construction teams.Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, coordinating resources as well as the ability to solve problems.Strong knowledge of Provincial and Federal regulations, codes, permits and approvals, as well as their technical application.Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel, SharePoint).Be a champion of inclusion and diversity.A valid driver’s license.
