Personal Support Worker (Personal Care Provider)
The Person al Support Worker (PSW) is responsible for providing care to residents according to their individual care plans and for assisting in the identification of resident needs. The PSW maintains a safe and secure environment for residents, visitors, and staff.
Responsibilities- Assist in monitoring care given to residents, ensuring it aligns with their established plan of care by observing residents and reporting findings to the immediate supervisor.
- Assist in documenting information related to residents’ care as directed.
- Attend in‑service education sessions, staff meetings, and workshops as directed.
- Assist in onboarding of new staff as directed.
- Follow IPAC (Infection Prevention and Control) policies and procedures.
- Graduate of a Personal Support Worker Certificate/Diploma Program.
- Meet the vocational standards established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities.
- Meet the standards established by the National Association of Career Colleges.
- Meet the standards established by the Ontario Community Support Association.
- Knowledge of procedures and techniques for administering simple treatments and related bedside care to residents; understanding of basic sanitation, cleaning techniques, and the needs of geriatric residents.
