About the Role

The ABA Therapist, Urgent Response Services is a full-time contract position that provides time-limited services developed to provide a rapid response to a specific, identified need to prevent further escalation or risk of harm to the child or youth, other people or property. The intervener will provide crisis support, parent mediator training, coaching and consultation to parents/caregivers of the children and youth registered in the Urgent Response Service to improve child and family quality of life and prepare for successful participation in community programs.

Work week would be 35 hours with regularly scheduled evenings and weekend work.

Salary range: $58,001.00 to $67,543.00 per annum.

What You Will Do
  • Support families using the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) to promote parent competencies in managing and reducing at‑risk behaviours.
  • Collaborate with supervisor to develop individualized behaviour protocols, and follow protocols for aggressive and disruptive behaviours.
  • Deliver ABA parent coaching and education in a group setting or one‑on‑one. Parent coaching and education includes teaching caregivers to support their child in the areas of communication, behaviour management/emotional regulation, social/interpersonal skills and daily living skills.
  • Develop and implement a plan for caregiver training/education by modeling techniques and strategies so caregivers can utilize these techniques in the home and community.
  • Deliver RUBI parent training for disruptive behaviours, Triple P Positive Parenting Group, Project IMPACT: teaching social communication to children with Autism for caregivers to have more knowledge of how to address specific behaviours with their children.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date records of all relevant client data for any internal staff to find when needed to best support clients and ensure safety.
  • Create presentations using current software programs and utilize technology to deliver content to individuals and groups.
  • Manage client appointments and scheduling in of workshop, presentations and individual sessions.
MUST HAVE
  • 3‑Year Community College Diploma in Behavioural Science.
  • 2 years of experience working with children and youth with autism, using the principles of ABA.
  • Knowledge of the Autism Spectrum Disorder with understanding of the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis.
  • Knowledge of services provided within autism services as well as organization‑wide.
