Your goal in this position is to perform examinations in ultrasound imaging and provide excellent patient‑ and family‑centred care in a supportive and culturally sensitive manner. You must have great interpersonal and communication skills, and effortlessly connect with physicians, staff, patients, and families. This position supports the Hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation.
It also contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients and families.
- Perform all ultrasound imaging examinations.
- Ensure imaging equipment is in proper working order and necessary supplies are on hand.
- Record and compute supply inventory for assigned area.
- Correlate history, physical findings, lab reports, etc., with examinations required.
- Work under pressure in a quick and efficient manner.
- Demonstrate excellent clinical and technical skills.
- Work effectively with the imaging team.
- Operate all the equipment in the ultrasound area.
- Assist in training ultrasound students.
- Successful completion of a recognized sonography program from an accredited institution (in addition to any previous para‑medical certification).
- Current registration with the CMRITO is required.
- Current registration with Sonography Canada is preferred.
- You ideally have a strong medical imaging background.
- Minimum one year as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer preferred.
- Hospital experience an asset.
- Bilingualism in French/English is an asset.
Working at NYGH means working with a dynamic team of fellow healthcare providers, staff, and volunteers in one of Canada’s leading hospitals. This is a full‑time temporary position of 12 months with 8‑hour shifts (Day, Evening, Weekends and On‑call). The position is primarily at the Leslie (General) site but could rotate to Champagne Dr. or Consumers Road.
