Position Title:
Data Platform Administrator - Snowflake
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Snowflake Administrator to manage and optimize our Snowflake cloud data platform. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Snowflake implementation, AWS services, Postgre
SQL administration, and on-prem to cloud migration. This role involves performance tuning, cost optimization, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Snowflake Administration:
o Administer and manage the Snowflake cloud data platform, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability.
o Implement and configure Snowflake solutions, including data warehousing, data integration, and data migration.
o Optimize Snowflake performance through query tuning, resource management, and data modeling.
o Monitor and troubleshoot Snowflake environments to ensure high availability and performance.
o Implement cost optimization strategies, such as right-sizing virtual warehouses, reducing auto-suspend times, and consolidating workloads.
o Utilize Snowflake's cost insights to identify and act on opportunities for cost savings.
• AWS Integration:
o Integrate Snowflake with AWS services such as S3, Glue, Lambda, and EC2 to enhance data workflows and analytics.
o Design and implement data pipelines using AWS services to facilitate seamless data movement and transformation.
o Postgre
SQL Management:
o Manage Postgre
SQL databases, including performance tuning, backups, and recovery.
o Ensure data integrity and security across Postgre
SQL environments.
o Develop and implement automation scripts for database management tasks.
• Performance Tuning:
o Optimize query performance by leveraging techniques such as clustering, query pruning, and result caching.
o Conduct regular performance assessments and implement improvements to enhance query execution times and overall system efficiency.
o Use Snowflake's Query Acceleration Service and other advanced features to improve performance for complex queries.
• On-Prem to Cloud Migration:
o Lead and manage the migration of on-premise databases to cloud platforms, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
o Develop migration strategies and plans, including data transfer, schema conversion, and application integration.
o Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure seamless transition and address any migration-related issues.
• Collaboration and Support:
o Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, and IT teams to ensure effective communication and integration.
o Provide technical support and guidance to team members and stakeholders.
o Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical issues.
• Documentation and Best Practices:
o Maintain comprehensive documentation of Snowflake and Postgre
SQL configurations, processes, and procedures.
o Develop and enforce best practices for database management, security, and compliance.
Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience as a Snowflake Administrator.
• Proven experience in implementing and managing Snowflake solutions.
• Strong knowledge of AWS cloud services and integration.
• Proficiency in Postgre
SQL database administration.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with other cloud platforms like AWS.
• Knowledge of Python, Terraform or other scripting languages for automation.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices.
• Certification in Snowflake, AWS, or Postgre
SQL.
