Lock Search Group is seeking an experienced and scientifically driven Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to support a Rare Disease portfolio across Western Canada.
This is a 12-month contract opportunity for a field-based medical professional who thrives at the intersection of science, clinical practice, and relationship-building. As a trusted scientific partner to the medical community, you will play a critical role in advancing disease understanding, supporting research initiatives, and fostering collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.
JOB SUMMARY
The Medical Science Liaison serves as a field-based scientific expert, engaging healthcare professionals, researchers, and thought leaders in meaningful scientific exchange. Working within regulatory and compliance guidelines, the MSL provides education, insight, and support related to rare disease and hematology-focused therapies. This role requires travel across Western Canada and close collaboration with cross-functional internal teams, including Medical Affairs and Clinical Development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Build and maintain strong, credible relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and healthcare professionals
Deliver accurate, fair, and balanced scientific exchange on disease state, clinical data, and therapeutic landscape
Act as the primary field-based medical contact for Medical Affairs within the assigned territory
Gather and communicate field intelligence, including insights on clinical practice trends, unmet needs, and competitive landscape
Support clinical development activities, including site recommendations, site initiation visits, and ongoing study support
Participate in or lead advisory boards at local, regional, and national levels
Provide internal and external education on preclinical science, clinical outcomes, and emerging data
Represent the organization at medical congresses and scientific meetings, providing post-conference insights
Serve as a scientific resource to cross-functional partners while operating within regulatory guidelines
Demonstrate excellence in territory planning, execution, and collaboration within the broader MSL team
REQUIREMENTS
Advanced health degree and significant clinical or industry experience
Minimum 1 year of MSL experience, ideally within hematology, oncology, or rare disease
Strong ability to interpret, communicate, and contextualize complex scientific and clinical data Proven success managing internal and external stakeholders in a matrixed environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated strategic thinking, problem-solving, and prioritization abilities
High level of professionalism, integrity, emotional intelligence, and adaptability
Solid understanding of the regulated biopharmaceutical environment
Clinical practice experience and rare disease expertise are considered strong assets
Willingness and ability to travel across Western Canada
Compensation
$140-160 base salary +15-20% bonus
