We are seeking a talented and experienced UI Designer / Visual Designer to join our Data Cognition Team at BMO Capital Markets. In this role, you will craft the look and feel of our AI‑enabled products, ensuring visually compelling, intuitive, and accessible interfaces for complex financial applications. You will collaborate closely with UX research, engineering, and product teams to deliver designs that balance aesthetics, usability, and technical feasibility.
Key Responsibilities
Design AI‑powered products at various levels of fidelity, from early sketches to live experiences.
Use storyboards, wireframes, and prototypes to explore and refine new ways for financial experts to interact with AI.
Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure designs align with brand objectives and deliver measurable results.
Work with UX researchers, engineers, product managers, data scientists, and AI engineers to align with business and production goals.
Design with privacy, accessibility, and compliance (WCAG standards) at the core of every interaction.
Stay current with design trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in financial services and AI‑driven interfaces.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Design, HCI, Visual Communication, or related field.
4+ years of experience in UI/Visual design for complex digital products.
Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Git Hub, Linear, and familiarity with conversation design tools and AI/ML workflow visualization.
Familiarity with responsive design, design systems, and accessibility standards.
"Show, don’t tell" mentality, excellent attention to detail, and ability to deliver pixel‑perfect designs.
Strong communication skills for collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
Nice to Have
Experience with AI‑driven interfaces and data visualization.
Experience in financial services or fintech.
Familiarity with motion design and micro‑interactions.
Knowledge of front‑end technologies (HTML/CSS) for effective collaboration with developers.
What We Offer

Base Salary: $120,000 – $150,000 CAD per year (subject to negotiation and based on specific skills, experience, education, and qualification requirements). Salaried position.
