Our client, a municipality in the north part of the GTA is seeking an experienced Data Architect to lead the team in establishing the architectural and governance frameworks that will guide how data is defined, managed, and leveraged across the organization. This foundational work will serve as the basis for a scalable data practice that future teams can adopt, evolve, and mature over time—ensuring long-term sustainability and impact.

Experience and
Education:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related fieldMicrosoft Azure, CDMA, TOGAF or ITIL certifications10 years of experience in data architecture, data governance, or enterprise data management rolesDemonstrated experience designing and implementing data models, governance frameworks, and architectural standards in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.Proven ability to lead data initiatives in ambiguous or evolving organizational contexts.Strong understanding of enterprise data modeling (conceptual, logical, and physical), metadata management, and data lifecycle practices.Experience designing data architectures that support both operational and analytical workloads.Proficiency with Microsoft data technologies, including data modeling and integration within the Microsoft ecosystem (e.g.,
SQL Server, Power BI, Microsoft Purview
).Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure (e.g., data lakes, data factories, storage, and analytics services).Knowledge of data security and privacy practices, including encryption, masking, and role-based access control.Familiarity with data integration and orchestration tools, preferably within Microsoft or comparable cloud environments.Ability to provide technical leadership and mentorship to cross-functional teams.
