Senior Business Intelligence Specialist – Data Warehouse / Reporting

Toronto, ON – Onsite (5 days a week)

Must Have Skills
10+ years of experience with Power BI:
Proficiency in Power BI, including data modeling, creating interactive reports and dashboards, and utilizing advanced features.
Dynamics 365 CE and/or F&O:
Demonstrated experience with data analytics and reporting from Dynamics 365 CE and/or F&O.
Data Warehouse/Lakehouse Concepts:
Strong understanding of data warehousing principles, including data modeling, ETL processes, data integration, and data governance.

Scope of Work
The project team requires a Senior Software Developer to help build a new data warehouse/lakehouse and deliver the reporting MVP (minimum viable product). As a member of the data team, you will:

Define the MVP for reporting and deliver required reporting solutions.
Design and implement a new data warehouse/lakehouse on Microsoft Azure.
Develop and automate ETL processes to load data from Dynamics 365 CE and F&O into bronze/silver/golden layers.
Integrate data from diverse sources into the new data warehouse.
Create logical and physical data models aligned with reporting and analytical needs.
Implement security controls to protect sensitive data.
Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations per MVP requirements.
Optimize performance of the data warehouse and reporting processes.
Ensure compliance with Ontario Government standards, policies, and security practices.
Provide knowledge transfer to designated staff and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Desired Skills & Experience
Advanced Power BI skills (DAX, Power Query, data gateways).
Knowledge of Dynamics 365 technologies (Data Verse/CDS, Data Entities, APIs).
Strong SQL skills (T-SQL, PL/SQL), query optimization, indexing, partitioning.

Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, Azure SQL Databases.
Familiarity with SSIS, SSRS, and Azure Synapse workspaces.
Proficiency in designing logical and physical data models (star/snowflake schemas).
Strong data visualization and storytelling with data.
Knowledge of data security, governance, and lifecycle management.
Effective communication and collaboration skills with stakeholders and technical teams.
Familiarity with version control systems (Azure Repos) and collaboration tools (Azure Dev Ops).

Nice to Have Skills
Azure cloud certifications (e.g., Azure Fundamentals, Azure Power BI Data Analyst Associate).

Experience with Power Apps, Power Automate, Dynamics CE and F&O.

Evaluation Criteria

Candidates will be evaluated on:
Data Warehouse:
Experience developing reports in a warehouse/lakehouse, supporting production environments, Azure Synapse pipelines, and data modeling concepts.
Power BI:
Demonstrated ability to create interactive reports, dashboards, configure gateways, and use advanced features (DAX, Power Query).
SQL / Databases:

Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, Azure SQL, query performance tuning, SSIS, SSRS.
Dynamics 365:
Strong understanding of Dynamics 365 data models, entities, relationships, and reporting from CE/F&O
Azure Platform:

Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse Workspaces, Dev Ops, and cloud certifications.
