The Data Scientist is a key member of the Compliance Innovation Team, driving the adoption of AI, business intelligence, and data-driven solutions to support Global Compliance Operations. Based in Montreal or Toronto and reporting to the Director of Innovation, this entry- to mid-level role translates compliance objectives into actionable insights through dashboards, predictive models, and automation initiatives.
The position spans four core pillars: elevating technology and data solutions (including GenAI), upskilling compliance staff, executing the Compliance Technology Roadmap, and fostering a culture of innovation. By collaborating with IT and Compliance stakeholders, the Data Scientist helps design and deploy AI-powered tools, visualization platforms, and storytelling techniques that enhance compliance processes and enable data-informed decision-making.
What you will do:
Partner with IT and Compliance teams to scope and deliver AI, BI, and analytics projects.Apply advanced techniques (AI, GenAI, visualization, BI) from design through deployment.Build dashboards and craft compelling data stories to communicate insights effectively.Deploy AI solutions and automation tools into production and monitor performance.Identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency across compliance processes.Contribute to training and upskilling compliance staff on emerging technologies and best practices.What you need to succeed:
Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or equivalent experience.
2+ years in AI, analytics, or BI projects, including automation and data-driven solutions.Proven ability to manage end-to-end projects in cross-functional environments.Strong skills in data transformation, ETL, and process improvement.Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management abilities.Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and work on diverse project types.Preferred skills:
Proficiency in Python and libraries for AI and analytics (e.g., scikit-learn, transformers, Tensor Flow, Lang Chain, pandas).Strong SQL and advanced Excel; experience with visualization tools (Tableau, Quick Sight).Hands-on experience with AI/GenAI techniques and business intelligence platforms.Familiarity with AWS services (Sage Maker, Quick Sight, Q for Business) and cloud-based analytics.Ability to handle large datasets and structured/unstructured data.Strong data storytelling skills to present insights to stakeholders.Assets
Knowledge of financial services or insurance industry.Familiarity with Agile methodologies.Experience with big data frameworks (Hadoop, Spark) and distributed computing.Bilingualism (French/English) for Quebec;
