Job OverviewOur client, a Top 10 bank in Canada and North America
, is building a new Global Security and Defence team to support a newly established regulatory remediation management function
. The Security Specialist will serve as a subject matter expert in IT security, technology risk, auditing, and regulatory remediation
, working closely with stakeholders across the bank, including senior leadership and executive teams
. This role focuses on defining, challenging, and strengthening technology controls and information security frameworks
, ensuring regulatory compliance and effective risk mitigation across enterprise environments.
Position Type: Contract
Contract Duration: 6 months
Start: As Soon As Possible
Pay Rate: C $90 – C $100 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, core business hours (37.5 hours/week)
Overtime: Not expected
Number of Openings: 2
Extension: Possible based on business needs and performance
Conversion to FTE: Possible based on business needs and performance
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnology Risk & Security Leadership
- Define, develop, and implement Technology Controls and Information Security policies, programs, standards, and tools
- Provide expert guidance on risk assessments, control gaps, remediation strategies, and security solutions
- Lead or contribute to risk and control design assessments across application portfolios
- Document business and enterprise impacts of control gaps and recommend mitigation and remediation plans
Regulatory & Audit Support
- Provide consultation on regulatory compliance requirements
, reporting, and regulatory inquiries - Support internal and external audits, including preparation of management responses and remediation activities
- Participate in enterprise or business-level security incident response activities
Stakeholder & Enterprise Engagement
- Act as a trusted advisor to technology partners, service owners, and business stakeholders
- Engage with stakeholders across the organization to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and security frameworks
- Develop and maintain ongoing technology risk reporting
, metrics, and trend analysis - Influence a strong risk management culture across technology and business teams
Continuous Improvement
- Stay current with emerging threats, regulatory changes, and industry trends
- Identify opportunities to enhance productivity, control effectiveness, and operational efficiency
- Contribute as a subject matter expert to enterprise and cross-functional initiatives
Must-Have Experience
- 10+ years of experience in auditing, technology risk, and regulatory remediation
- Strong stakeholder advisory and management experience
- Proven experience working with executive leadership (C‑suite, VPs, Senior Management)
- Hands‑on background in cybersecurity and technology risk
Required Soft Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to lead progress updates and stakeholder touchpoint meetings
- Strong collaboration skills in fast‑paced environments
- Prior banking or financial institution experience
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CRISC, ISACA
- Post‑secondary education required
- Security or risk‑related certifications considered a strong asset
