Job Title: Business Analyst - Payments, ISO 20022

Contract Duration: 6 Months

Pay range: C $65-75/hr

  • This role involves assisting with changes required on ISO 20022 messaging standards.
Purpose
  • Seeking a Business Systems Analyst with expertise in FX and Derivative Settlement Operations within Confirmations and Settlement Operations.
  • Responsible for delivering tasks associated with the program, ensuring proper documentation of artifacts, requirements, and solutions to support business strategies and objectives.
  • Ideal candidate has strong experience eliciting and documenting business requirements in the financial services sector, aligned with industry standards and regulations.
Accountabilities
  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Supervise operational activities, including verification of daily settlements, cash control, investigation of settlement issues, and related projects.
  • Support and maintain excellent relations with front office, clients, technology, and other stakeholders for accurate and timely processes.
  • Provide accurate analysis to management.
  • Act as the first point of contact for client escalations.
  • Seek opportunities for process improvements to maximize efficiencies.
  • Consider the bank's risk appetite and culture in daily activities and decisions.
  • Ensure operations adhere to controls, operational risk, regulatory compliance, AML/ATF, and conduct risks.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with business and technology teams to analyze and document requirements for payment systems.
  • Conduct gap analysis of current payment systems against project objectives and industry standards (e.g., ISO 20022).
  • Develop detailed business and technical requirement documents, use cases, and process flows using tools like VISIO, MS Office, SharePoint, and Power

    BI.
  • Work with project managers, developers, and QA teams for successful implementation.
  • Gather feedback, resolve issues, and align priorities with stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with international payment regulations and industry best practices.
  • Own and drive testing efforts, including defining test cases, validating outcomes, and facilitating UAT.
  • Create and maintain project artifacts such as user stories, specifications, and workflows.
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years as a Business Systems Analyst in financial services, with focus on payments and/or money transfer projects.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 20022 messaging standards and implications for payment systems.
  • Understanding of payments modernization, real-time payments, digital ecosystems, and related technologies.
  • Proficiency with applications like Wallstreet, FXALL, MISYS, GTSS, Bloomberg, and understanding of FX and Derivatives products.
  • Experience with cross-border and international payment systems, including SWIFT.
  • Ability to create detailed documentation, functional specifications, and process flows.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with payment infrastructure modernization projects in Canada or major markets.
  • Knowledge of compliance and risk considerations for cross-border payments.
  • Hands-on with tools like JIRA, Confluence, Visio, or similar.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
Soft Skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Note
  • Preference for candidates with experience in payment infrastructure modernization within Canada and strong capital markets product knowledge.
