Location & Work Model

This is a hybrid role, with an expectation of being in our Toronto hub three days per week.

The Document Generation team builds Even Up’s most mission-critical, AI-native products — systems that directly power the company’s core business and materially improve outcomes for injury victims nationwide.

This team owns advanced document generation workflows that combine modern SaaS architecture with cutting-edge LLM capabilities to produce high-quality legal documents ir work dramatically increases Even Up’s capacity to serve clients, accelerates case resolution, and raises the standard for legal representation across the industry.

What makes this team unique is both its impact and complexity: the products are deeply embedded in Even Up’s business, operate at high scale, and require an exceptional bar for accuracy, reliability, and quality. The problems are technically challenging, highly visible, and directly tied to customer trust and business growth.

• Own and evolve the strategy, execution, and delivery of AI-native document generation systems
• Lead and scale a high-performing engineering team aligned to Even Up’s business goals
• Partner closely with Product, Legal, Operations, and company leadership to deliver customer-centric solutions
• Drive complex initiatives from concept through production, iteration, and long-term ownership
• Uphold a high bar for engineering quality, reliability, security, and performance
• Build a strong, inclusive, and collaborative team culture focused on growth and ownership

• Execution & Delivery:
  Lead teams through the full software development lifecycle, from planning and architecture to deployment and monitoring. Deliver high-impact features and systems that directly support Even Up’s core products and customers
• Architecture & Quality:
  Establish and champion best practices around system design, testing, observability, security, and reliability. Guide architectural decisions for scalable, maintainable, and AI-enabled systems
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  
  Work closely with founders, product managers, legal partners, and operations teams to scope and deliver solutions. Translate business and customer needs into clear technical direction for the team
• Ownership & Growth:
  Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers, supporting career growth and technical excellence. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Contribute hands-on when needed, particularly in areas involving LLM integration or AI workflow optimization

• Experience leading and developing software engineering teams in a people-management role
• A strong track record of shipping complex, high-quality software systems
• Deep understanding of modern software development practices and system architecture
• Ability to balance strategic leadership with pragmatic execution
• Excellent communication skills and comfort collaborating across functions
• High ownership, strong judgment, and the ability to operate in fast-paced, evolving environments
