About Alpha Desk

Alpha Desk is LSEG's Order and Portfolio Management Software. It develops and supports the software for hedge funds and asset managers globally. We are a complementary team with strong technical skills, and the quality of our software and client services is at the core of our business.

Alpha Desk is central to the buy side investment workflow. Our clients use Alpha Desk to manage and handle the trading, monitoring, and reporting of their investments. Clients value our consultative approach and ability to deliver high-quality implementations. We deploy Alpha Desk and integrate with their trading brokers, custodians, and other third parties to enable straight-through processing across the investment lifecycle.

We are responsive and efficient in delivering implementations and support, which are strengths of our overall offering. Our implementations team is responsible for our continued success in this area.

The Role

The specific role requires technical, project management, and leadership capabilities. The technical aspect includes collecting requirements, configuring Alpha Desk, supplying functional specifications, and testing solutions for both new and existing clients. You will be responsible for client implementation projects and for coordinating a team of specialists assigned to each project. Together, you are encouraged to ensure implementations are completed in a timely manner and that projects successfully go live on schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Work with clients to understand their business and workflow requirements, assembling those into project scope documents, functional specifications, change requests, and client support runbooks.
  • Build project plans, supervise delivery, and manage resources to ensure projects are completed on time and to high quality.
  • Contribute directly to the deployment and configuration of Alpha Desk for clients and deliver various implementation tasks.
  • Keep clients updated on project status and risks by leading regular project meetings and proactive communication.
  • Facilitate and conduct user training.
  • Prioritize and determine solutions, making recommendations aligned with objectives and relevant constraints.
  • Translate client requirements into tasks and functional specifications for development.
  • Ensure quality is maintained and the solution meets requirements. Assist in test plans and conduct testing.
Requirements
  • An undergraduate degree, preferably with a major in engineering, computer science, information technology, science, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience in a technical role, preferably in financial markets or investment management.
  • Experience working directly with internal and external clients.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • In-depth understanding of buy‑side workflows for portfolio management, trading/settlement, reconciliation, accounting, and reporting.
  • Solid grasp of Order and Portfolio Management Systems.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize numerous tasks and work independently.
  • Extraordinary teammate with a consultative approach to problem solving.
  • SQL knowledge.
  • Willingness to learn emerging technologies and new software.
  • Good time management skills and ability to work optimally under time constraints.
