Job Description

We are seeking a Lab Operations Support Engineer to provide 24/7 operational support at a Brampton-based lab. This role is part of a larger network infrastructure migration and support operations project. They will be responsible for a broad range of infrastructure and logistical services, supporting network migration and ongoing lab functionality. They will work closely with internal engineering, logistics, and security stakeholders.

Must comply with client site access and safety requirements.

They will be responsible for a broad range of infrastructure and logistical services, supporting network migration and ongoing lab functionality. They will work closely with internal engineering, logistics, and security stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Migration Support:
  Participate in ongoing network infrastructure migration activities, supporting cutovers and validation.
• Inventory Management:
  Track, organize, and maintain lab equipment and hardware inventory.
• Physical Connection Support:
  Assist with physical cabling, racking, stacking, and connectivity of equipment.
• Physical Access Management:
  Control and document access to the lab facility, ensuring security compliance.
• Logistics Coordination:
  Manage inbound/outbound shipments, hardware arrivals, and general lab logistics.
• Supply Chain Coordination:
  Liaise with vendors and internal teams to ensure timely hardware availability and movement.
• Space & Power Management:
  Monitor and optimize space utilization, rack layout, and power availability.
• Smart Hands Services:
  Provide hands-on technical support, including troubleshooting, patching, equipment swaps, and rebooting.
• Troubleshooting & Connectivity:
  Respond to connectivity issues and escalate as needed, maintaining 24/7 readiness.
• Infrastructure Reliability:
  Monitor and report on power, cooling, and physical security to ensure optimal lab performance.

Ideal Qualifications

• Experience with data center or lab operations support
• Familiarity with cabling, rack layouts, and hardware installations
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Knowledge of physical access protocols and logistics coordination
• Ability to work independently and within a team under a rotating schedule
• Excellent communication and incident documentation skills
