We have an exciting opportunity to join our National Underwriting MGA, Risk-Can as a Commercial Underwriter and work out of one of our Greater Toronto Area or Calgary branch, on a Permanent FT basis.

Underwrite various commercial lines submissions with the intent to offer insurance solutions for our brokers within department guidelines and contribute to a profitable portfolio of businessEnsure proper underwriting, pricing, authorizing and documentation of moderate to complex new business submissionsWork within established underwriting authority limits, structured parameters, rating matrices, and defined guidelines given under our contractsBuild strong relationships with our brokers by offering insurance solutions that assist them in their front line sales and customer relationshipsMake recommendations to improve the department and increase its efficiencyThe successful candidate will have:

Exceptional customer service skills and ability to develop strong relationships with our brokersStrong negotiation skills and business savvyDemonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities, work independently with guidelines and show initiativeAbility to problem-solve and make decisionsPost-Secondary education2 – 5 years of commercial P&C underwriting experienceCompletion of or working towards a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation an assetAbove average computer proficiency in – Excel, MS Office, Outlook
