Career Opportunities# 2026 First Year Summer Law Student Toronto Temporary Full-Time## Overview There are currently openings for first year summer students summer student program at Blakes allows students to experience what it is like to practice law at a top tier law firm, get to know Blakes lawyers and gain an understanding for the Firm’s culture. Students will complete two rotations over the course of the summer, and they will be assigned a mentor in each rotation.
The mentor’s role is to facilitate students professional training and skills development. Another way the Firm assists students in enjoying their summer is through social events.
These events ensure that students get to know one another as well as lawyers at the Firm.
Blakes has more than 600 lawyers in offices across Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, Montreal, Ottawa, New York and London. The Firm handles transactions of all sizes and levels of complexity, including issues which are local or multijurisdictional, practice-area specific or interdisciplinary.

The Firm also takes a leadership role in supporting pro bono legal initiatives and has one of the largest pro bono programs in Canada.
The anticipated summer student salary is $2,000 per week.
