Position PurposeThe Seasonal Custodial is responsible for assisting with the daily operational cleaning, work orders, furniture moves, project cleaning and other tasks and duties required to maintain the cleanliness of the zoo site. This position will assist and provide support in implementing the Strategic Plan.
Core Role Responsibilities- Clean Washrooms.
- Sweep and wash floors.
- Clean Offices.
- Vacuum carpets.
- Collect garbage from inside buildings.
- Clean public side of pavilion glass.
- Set up furniture for special events.
- Maintain the cleanliness safety of work spaces.
- Assist with office moves.
- Assist with special projects.
- Follow all policies and branch instructions.
- Attend appropriate training as required.
- Must have some basic cleaning experience or the equivalent amount of training and related experience.
- Must have 6 months to 1 year of proven experience in the same or similar position.
- Must be able to meet deadlines.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
- Self-starter, able to work with little direct supervision.
- Desire to set and maintain high standards for cleanliness.
- Must ensure all applicable licenses and certificates remain valid and in good standing. Copies of licenses and certificates to be provided at time of hire and upon renewal.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, along with strong communications skills.
- Working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and WHMIS legislation an asset.
- Must be able to work weekends, shifts and holidays as scheduled.
- Must be able to deal with staff and public in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Capable of meeting the physical requirements of the position including the ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
