Responsibilities
  • Proper use and care of equipment. Inspection, integrity testing, solvent and product clearance, multi-stage cleaning, assistance with maintenance activities. Must be comfortable working with pyrophoric, toxic, and aggressive chemicals (with proper PPE and safety measures in place).
  • Rigid adherence to production specifications and procedures. Adherence to safety when charging reactors, distillation, purification, recovery of product and waste, solid and liquid phase recoveries.
  • Strict compliance with housekeeping protocol, Health & Safety requirements. Verification of PPE, safeguards on equipment, routine 5S activities, TDM participation, initiating/follow-up/closure of pre-start and process safety requirements.
  • Ensuring all required documentation is current, complete and accurate. Documentation must meet the cGMP regulations, reviewed routinely and contemporaneous entries.
  • Working to improve your skills and those of your colleagues. Working with peripheral departments on new initiatives, RnD, new advances with processes, new technology and new techniques.
  • Developing and maintaining additional thorough understanding of chemicals used in manufacturing, production procedures and underlying chemistry. All safeguards with materials in the RM form, intermediate and FG processes including packaging.
  • Supporting team members with your sound understanding of safe operations in the plant. Conducting process and safety training, proper movement and storage of RM, Int and FG materials. Contribute to follow-up testing for processing and FG filling.
  • Working 12-hour shifts, rotating day/night every 4 weeks, Week 1 – 36hrs, Week 2- 48 hrs, week 3-36hrs, week 4-48hrs.
Qualifications
  • Enthusiasm for acquiring new skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and team communication skills. Capable of working alternate (monthly) days and night 12hr shifts.
  • Strict attention to detail at all times (following procedures, documentation, equipment usage, chemical storage/disposal/handling).
  • Comfort working in an ethnically diverse working environment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, move 55G drums on wheels, routine valve manipulations.
  • Bachelors Science degree in chemistry or college diploma in chemical technology or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience preferred.
  • Preferred experience working with toxic, flammable, pyrophoric, or organic chemistries.
  • Experience in a chemical manufacturing plant is an asset.
