Job Description

The General Labourer is responsible for assisting the haulage drivers at the start of shift, emptying of bins using a counterbalance forklift and performing a variety of routine cleaning, maintenance and repair to tanks, drains, culverts, grounds, buildings, and associated structures.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assist haulage drivers at start of shift.
  • Using forklift, monitor and emptying of bins.
  • Assist on conveyor belt clean‑ups.
  • Janitorial duties throughout the plant.
  • Maintain clean processing floor area.
  • Assist maintenance department as required.
  • Record daily instrument readings.
  • Assist machine operators, loader operators as required.
  • Clean work areas and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Graduate with a minimum post‑secondary education.
  • Graduate from a Heavy Equipment Operator Program - Training in learning to maintain and proper use of heavy equipment, would be an asset.
  • Credentials: (certificates, licenses, memberships, courses, etc.):
    Forklift license preferred, heavy equipment operator.
  • Experience:

    In addition to solid General Labour experience, 1 to 2 years Telehandler and counterbalance forklift experience required.
  • Must have a have the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing (operational, process, safety and quality Instructions). Ability to perform basic math.
  • Must be licensed to operate a Counterbalance Forklift Truck.
  • At least six months experience in a related position and environment preferred.
  • Experience with a variety of machinery, vehicles, material handling equipment, hand and power tools preferred. Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
  • Reading text, Document use, Numeracy, Writing, Oral communication, attention to detail. Good use of the English language. Deadline oriented. Work well with others. Good hand eye coordination. Repetitive motions required. Rotating throughout the facility as required.
  • Reliable and dependable on start and finish times as it impacts the operations.
Work Environment
  • This is a temporary mandate, offered on a full time basis.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
    Fast‑paced environment, Repetitive tasks, physically demanding, and attention to detail.
  • Work Site Environment:
    Can get dusty, recycling odour.
  • Transportation/Travel Information:
    Own transportation.
  • Shifts (2) :
    Monday - Sunday; 6:00 AM- 2:30 PM & 2:30 PM - 10:30 PM, + Overtime; alternating shifts with two days off before rotation.
