Responsible for the quality of the product and packaging sold to consumers, while providing direction to hourly and salaried non‑exempt lab technicians and sanitation workers. The focus areas include production process quality, prevention of adulteration or contamination, product attribute and packaging integrity testing, regulatory compliance, and facility sanitation.

Location: Etobicoke, ON
Shift: Day Shift – 7 AM to 3 PM

• Support Health and Safety committee activities, including monthly meetings and inspections.
• Identify health hazards and other hazards in process controls.
• Conduct regular site walks to identify unsafe practices and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor Health and Safety metrics and participate in continuous improvement implementation.
• Lead implementation of Health and Safety policy and serve as a safety example.
• Train employees to report incidents, injuries and near misses and conduct thorough investigations.
• Provide ongoing Health and Safety training to all employees and contractors.
• Establish and implement training related to Food Safety and Quality.
• Ensure temporary and contractor employees are trained in Good Manufacturing Practices and plant rules.
• Act as Preventive Control Qualified Individual (PCQI) and review food safety records.
• Offer technical leadership in food safety and quality systems.
• Lead the Food Safety Committee and plant product safety programs.
• Update annual matrices for QA programs.
• Verify, achieve and enforce Food Safety, GMP, Allergen Program and Health and Safety requirements.
• Conduct audits to ensure compliance with GMP and company standards.
• Analyze and maintain product quality per established procedures.
• Conduct regular quality checks and educate production personnel as needed.
• Verify processing parameters and use statistical process control (SPC) to improve efficiency, quality and reduce waste.
• Ensure control charts remain within +/- 3 sigma.
• Confirm ingredient and packaging meet specifications prior to use.
• Maintain highest level of product and package quality within budget constraints.
