Sr. CNC Programmer

Bell & Associates has been engaged to help our client find their next Sr. CNC Programmer. The Senior CNC Programmer will design and optimize manufacturing processes for release to production. As a key member of the engineering team, you will lead manufacturing engineers, production, quality, and procurement teams, while collaborating with customers and vendors to develop the most efficient manufacturing processes.

This role is critical to ensuring safety, cycle time, quality, and budget goals are met in a precision machining aerospace environment.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for developing and implementing CNC programming strategies, optimizing processes, and ensuring adherence to quality standards and safety protocols.
  • Responsible for the launch and implementation of new product introduction.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations of team members and provide constructive feedback for skills development and career growth.
  • Create and optimize CNC programs, as a CNC Programmer, for machining efficiency, cycle time reduction, and quality improvement to conform to budgeted cost and time.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance CNC programming capabilities, productivity, and efficiency, particularly in complex operations.
  • Review and approve production drawings for accuracy and production-readiness.
  • Analyze drawings and solid models of precision parts to determine the most efficient sequence of operations required for machining.
  • Design fixtures and tooling necessary for production and assembly.
  • Monitor first article production and inspection to verify processes are followed and results are conforming.
  • Maintain heightened awareness of the project schedules and ensure jobs are set up and run based on project deadlines and budget performance.
  • Work with Project Managers and Manufacturing Engineers to identify and mitigate risk in the production process and to ensure production standards and goals are achieved.
  • Responsible for the sustainment of standard machining techniques.
  • Stay updated with industry advancements, and provide mentorship and guidance to their team.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in programming a variety of machining centers (3, 4 and 5 axis milling and turning machines), ideally high precision machining environments.
  • 2+ years of experience in a senior or lead role.
  • 3+ years of experience in programming CNC machines to cut Nickel Alloy, titanium, Inconel.
  • Engineering Degree (Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical) is preferred.
  • Experience in operating machines.
  • Experience with Fanuc and Siemens control programming.
  • Experience with Fanuc Macro and use of machine variables in NC Programs.
  • Experience with Renishaw probing routines for tool offset compensation and in-process verification management.
  • Full understanding of advanced CNC editing/programming including Mastercam, Cimco Edit and Vericut CAD/CAM software (e.g. G code, M code and post processor editing).
  • Must have CAD software experience (e.g. AutoCAD, Solid Works, Inventor) and an understanding of 3D models.
  • Knowledge and use of shop floor inspection tools.
  • Deep knowledge of cutting tool geometry, parameters, materials and coatings.
  • Extensive knowledge on the machine tool setter programming.
  • Extensive knowledge on the machine CNC deburring programming.
  • Experience in cost saving project development.
  • Experience in process troubleshooting.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, particularly with engineers and manufacturing personnel.
  • Must understand Engineering Change Management process in-depth.
  • Familiar with machining super alloys such as Inconel, titanium and stainless steel.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T and technical specifications.
  • Good knowledge in AS9100 and operating in a regulated environment.
