Introduction

This sanctuary is a non-profit organization located in Tutamoe Peak's cloud-forest in Northland, NZ. It is home to the kiwi bird and giant kauri snail. Volunteers help protect and restore the forest, working sustainably and off-grid, with recycled structures and tools.

In collaboration with the Department of Conservation, volunteers perform activities such as creating access trails, protecting native species from invasive pests, planting native trees, monitoring pests, and supporting the habitat of kiwi and kokako birds. This project offers active ecosystem restoration and memorable experiences.

Interns receive training and mentoring to lead small volunteer teams, plan activities, and ensure safety. They also learn about establishing similar non-profits, from design to accounting and marketing.
