Serving as a community academic hospital, we collaborate with the University of Toronto and Queen’s University to deliver patient-centered care, continuous improvement and innovation.

Employment Status: Full Time
Reporting Relationship: Manager of 14 East
Hourly Rate: $40.24 - $57.68
Union Group: ONA
Hours of Work: Rotating shifts, 12 hours, days/nights/weekends
Location: Humber River Health, Wilson site

Position Responsibilities

  • R.N. responsibilities in general medicine, geriatric, and stroke care
  • Care planning and coordination of care with various team members
  • Utilization of computerized systems for patient care documentation
  • Participation in project teams or hospital committees as required
  • Resource/team leader responsibilities
  • Mentorship of new hires and pre-graduate nursing students

Qualifications

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current BCLS certification or agreement to obtain within 3 months of commencement
  • 2 years of acute medical/surgical inpatient experience preferred
  • Demonstrated patient assessment skills (Advanced Physical Assessment)
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to set priorities, solve problems, resolve conflict, and make decisions
  • Excellent patient/family teaching skills and ability to promote family‑centered care
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work with multidisciplinary team, patients, family members and visitors
  • Computer skills required
  • Excellent attendance and discipline‑free record required
  • Understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset
