Registered Nurse; Part-time General
The services of an experienced part-time registered nurse (RN) are urgently needed in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario. The Region of Peel seeks a hardworking and committed nurse to join a team of experienced medical personnel. The Registered Nurse will report to the Director of Care (or designate).
Successful candidates will provide nursing/medical care in compliance with the College of Nurses Standards of Practice, procedures, administrative policies, and applicable legislation. Registered Nurse BenefitsEmployees are entitled to a comprehensive salary package, including compensation as per the Collective Agreement (ONA). Work hours are variable, including shifts, evenings, nights, and weekends, with leave benefits provided.
Job Duties and Requirements- Apply nursing methods or standard procedures to provide individualized care to residents.
- Update and complete Resident Plans of Care with supervision from the multidisciplinary team.
- Relate pertinent resident information to the nursing team and document nursing care provided.
- Safeguard drug and narcotic keys responsibly.
- Consult with physicians on residents’ health issues and execute physician’s orders with proper documentation.
- Coordinate and supervise nursing assignments, functioning as a team member and leader according to shift priorities.
- Communicate effectively with families, residents, visitors, the Director of Healthcare, and team members.
- Respond promptly to nurse call and alarm systems.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following proper procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Complete incident reports and forward them to the Director of Care or designate.
- Provide health education to families and residents, acting as an advocate.
- Maintain positive relationships with residents, volunteers, staff, and visitors.
- Monitor the usage of medical and personal care supplies.
- Certification in Gerontology is an advantage.
- Knowledge of geriatric, long-term care, medical/surgical, rehabilitation, and psychiatric nursing is preferred.
- Exhibit leadership, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Effective communication skills in English (oral and written).
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Physical ability to perform delegated tasks.
