The QC Engineer will work directly with the QC Manager, providing hands‑on support in daily quality control operations, technical reviews, documentation, and process improvements. This is a growth‑oriented position designed for an individual who is eager to develop leadership skills and advance into a Quality Control Manager role through demonstrated performance and initiative.

The QC Engineer will assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive quality management systems to ensure that all manufactured products meet or exceed industry standards, client specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving product consistency, ensuring compliance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across all production units.

Duties & Responsibilities
Project Quality Oversight

Review project specifications, drawings, and contracts to determine quality and testing requirements

Develop and maintain project‑specific quality control plans, inspection schedules, and documentation

Coordinate with project managers to integrate quality milestones into project timelines

Conduct quality reviews at critical project phases and hold points

Ensure full traceability of materials, inspection records, and test results

Take QVE responsibilities and prepare, sign and seal Certificate of Conformance

Review of precast reports

Team Collaboration & Training

Work closely with the QC Manager and the quality control team to support production operations

Assist in developing and delivering training programs for QC personnel

Develop and review SOP & Work instructions

Promote a strong culture of quality awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement

Collaborate with plant Managers to resolve quality issues and implement preventive actions

Compliance & Reporting

Support compliance with applicable standards and certifications, including CSA, AWWA, NSF‑61, CPCQA, BNQ, and Schedule A

Assist in maintaining annual certifications such as SCC, and in responding to DSM inquiries

Prepare and maintain quality reports, metrics, and performance summaries for management review

Liaise with clients, consultants, and third‑party inspection agencies to address technical and compliance matters

Support management of NCRs, corrective actions, and root cause analysis

Skills, Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering

P.Eng. designation

Minimum 3 years of quality control experience within the precast industry

Proven track record working with MTO, Metrolinx, and City of Toronto projects

Thorough understanding of CSA A23.1/2, CSA A23.4, and OPSS standards

Strong technical knowledge of concrete QC testing methods including AVS, RCP, Salt Scaling, Linear Shrinkage, Compressive Strength, and Flexural Beam testing

Proficiency in quality management systems, documentation control, and inspection equipment

Ability to interpret working drawings and fabrication details

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments

High attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality excellence

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Exceptional organizational and time‑management skills
