Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
  • Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
  • Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
  • Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
  • Greeting and assisting visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
  • De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
  • Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
  • Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
  • Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed.
  • Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards.
Prerequisites
  • Valid Security License for the Province of Ontario.
  • Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider.
  • COVID-19 vaccination, two doses.
  • Proof of up-to-date immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and a two-step Tuberculosis skin test.
  • Valid G‑class Driver’s License.
  • Willingness to complete N95 Mask fit testing during training.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must.
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB).
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Education Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in law enforcement from a recognized institution or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of a Police Foundations Diploma.
Certification Requirements
  • Standard First Aid, CPR Level

    C.
  • Valid Ontario Security License.
  • Immunization record for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella and a two-step TB skin test.
  • COVID-19 double vaccinated.
