Shifts:

You will work 22.5 hours weekly:
Thursday 4pm – 11:30pm;
Friday 4pm – 11:30pm;
Saturday 4pm – 11:30pm. Schedules are subject to operational needs.

Terry Fox House is a 24/7 live-in program providing services to young men involved in the youth justice system. The team offers education and employment support, life-skills programming, and transitional planning to support individuals as they leave the program. Reporting to the Supervisor, the Youth Worker maintains a structured, trauma-informed, and safe setting for 24/7 coverage and supports the daily educational needs of the youth in partnership with the Toronto District School Board.

The position involves shift work with 7-day, 24-hour coverage and flexibility to work on days, afternoons/evenings, wake overnights, weekdays, weekends and beyond regular shifts as needed. Travel to other locations/communities is required.

Responsibilities
  • Youth Engagement & Direct Programming: work with the Senior Counsellor and leadership to support youth; ensure youth records are current; track needs (clothing, hygiene items); arrange and track medical/dental/health appointments.
  • Case management support: complete intake, assist with secondary intake, schedule and co-facilitate case management planning meetings, communicate with parents/guardians and other stakeholders, schedule youth appointments and programming, attend court with youth.
  • Support for youth with hygiene, life skills, social skills, and individualized planning; supervise and train new staff, students, and volunteers; assist youth and families toward goals; maintain a safe residence environment; de-escalate crises; ensure records are closed and stored per licensing standards.
  • Food preparation following safe handling protocols.
Administration & Professional Development
  • Maintain timely and accurate notes and logs using case management software; perform related administrative tasks.
  • Support reporting of statistics and program evaluation; write Serious Occurrence Reports as required; perform security checks and audit program logs.
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and team activities; collaborate with team members; model the agency’s values and mission; undertake other responsibilities as assigned and participate in organizational initiatives.
  • Report to funders and support program budget management; contribute to program objectives.
