We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Principal, Software Engineering, to lead complex engineering efforts and guide architectural decisions across the portfolio. This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic thinking, business acumen and mentorship, playing a critical part in driving innovation and delivering scalable, reliable systems.
Principal Engineer will focus on solving complex business problems by leveraging fit for purpose technologies not limited to API, microservices, cloud, SAAS, AI and additionally on improving software engineering processes, optimizing time-to-market, and mentoring software engineers across organization.
What you'll do here:
Own the technology direction and roadmap for the technology assets for Finance & Reinsurance.Collaborates closely with the senior leadership and principals to develop and implement strategic initiatives and roadmaps that drive innovation, enhance efficiency, and contribute to maintaining the competitive edge in the marketOwn the Platform performance, scalability and other aspects.Serve as the technical authority and decision-maker for key architecture and design initiatives, especially those that are of high risk or new technologyAct as a Force Multiplier:
Leverage your extensive expertise to enhance the productivity and effectiveness of the entire engineering team. Foster a culture of innovation and excellence by mentoring colleagues, streamlining processes, introducing best practices, and driving architectural improvements that enable the team to deliver high-quality solutions efficiently.Hands on Keyboard technical proficiency. Serves as a trusted advisor, leveraging technical expertise to own and make strategic decisions and initiatives and plays an important role in elevating technical decision-making process and acts as a technological leader.Promotes cross-team collaboration and drives technical direction across teams, functions, and products, ensuring decisions support overall business and technology strategyDevelop shared software engineering frameworks, APIs, and toolkits to streamline integration into production applications.Define and enforce software engineering best practices, ensuring consistency across model development, deployment, and monitoringIdentify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement and act as an agent of change by championing innovative ideas and initiatives to improve processesStay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices, assess the potential impact of new technologies on the organization and recommend adoption strategiesCoordinate with Experts in various technical forums, both internally and externally. Recognized as an active member of the tech community and promotes technology within and outside the organizationWhat you bring to the table:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Compute Science, Engineering or related field.10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3+ years in technical leadership roleStrong understanding of software architecture principles and system design patterns and AI/ML concepts and frameworksExtensive expertise in Oracle Fusion ERP, Oracle EPM and Oracle FDI.Expertise in implementing IFRS
17 solutions such as SAS IFRS
17 or other IFRS
17 solutions.Expertise in data technologies such as Databricks, Python, Informatica Intelligent Cloud services (CAI & CDI)Deep expertise with Angular, Java, Spring, Spring boot, Database (SQL & No
SQL) and experience with Cloud platforms (such as AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, and distributed systemsProven ability to design scalable, resilient systems in production environmentsExtensive knowledge of Dev Sec Ops and observability tools.Proven leadership in mentoring software engineers and building global technical communities.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to bridge the gap between software development teams and business leaders.For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.#LI-Hybrid
