Software Development Manager at Autodesk

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Lead & Inspire:
    Build, mentor, and motivate a high‑performing team. Foster a culture of growth, recognition, and continuous improvement.
  • Deliver Impact:
    Own key product features and ensure projects are delivered on time and with exceptional quality. Remove obstacles and champion engineering excellence.
  • Collaborate:
    Work closely with product managers, designers, architects, and senior leaders to turn business and technical requirements into actionable plans and successful outcomes.
  • Drive Innovation:
    Continuously refine development processes, encourage new ideas, and help shape the team’s vision for both the short and long term.
  • Be a Trusted Partner:
    Advise senior management, drive alignment, and help implement strategic decisions across your team.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years managing software engineering teams using Agile methodologies for Enterprise SaaS applications.
  • 10+ years building large‑scale commercial backend services (AWS, Java, Spring Boot, MySQL).
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and multitasking skills; able to thrive in a fast‑paced, results‑oriented environment.
  • Excellent communicator and active listener, comfortable presenting to large audiences and leading group activities.
  • Proven mentor with a track record of developing successful teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience leading high‑performing engineering teams in a fast‑paced product development environment.
  • Demonstrated success in building, scaling, and retaining strong engineering teams.
  • Strong people‑management skills with experience handling performance reviews, career development, and succession planning.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leadership and drive alignment across cross‑functional groups.
  • Experience leading multi‑team or multi‑project initiatives with clear business impact.
  • Strong background in strategic planning, resource management, and budget forecasting.
  • Expertise in setting engineering standards, driving process improvements, and establishing operational excellence.
  • Ability to foster a diverse, inclusive, and psychologically safe work culture.
  • Experience managing teams in a hybrid or distributed work environment.
  • Strong mentoring and coaching capabilities—ability to develop next‑generation leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Salary Transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.

For roles based in Canada (Columbia-Britannica), the base salary range is approximately CAD 190,000‑CAD 280,000. Offers may exceed this range depending on experience and location.
