About the RoleWe’re hiring an Engineering Manager for Financial Infrastructure & Banking to lead one of Float’s most correctness‑critical engineering domains.
This team owns systems that move money
, manage banking integrations
, maintain ledger correctness
, and ensure Float can safely scale financial operations. The blast radius is high — mistakes here directly impact customer trust, funds, and regulatory posture — which is why this role requires exceptional technical judgment and seniority.
This is a player‑coach role
. You’ll spend roughly 60% of your time hands‑on in the codebase and systems, and 40% leading and developing engineers
, partnering closely with Product and Risk.

What You’ll Be Responsible ForLead Correctness‑Critical Financial Systems
- Own systems related to money movement, banking rails, ledgering, reconciliation, and financial operations.
- Ensure correctness, reliability, and safety across all financial workflows.
- Make sound architectural and delivery decisions under regulatory and commercial constraints.
- Contribute directly to backend and infrastructure code.
- Review designs and PRs for correctness, reliability, and scalability.
- Debug complex production issues and lead incident response when required.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of senior engineers.
- Build trust quickly with highly experienced ICs.
- Establish strong operating rhythms, clarity, and accountability.
- Partner with Product to run dual‑track roadmaps (commercial commitments + technical foundations).
- Work closely with Risk, Compliance, and Platform teams.
- Communicate risk and trade‑offs clearly to stakeholders.
