Older Peoples Mental Health inpatient service at Beech Ward, Torbay Hospital,on a fixed-term basis. Beech Ward is a newly refurbished, purpose-designed
16-bed unit delivering high-quality, person-centred care for older adultsexperiencing acute functional mental illness.

Main duties of the jobThe post holder will provide seniorpsychiatric leadership to an inpatient ward for older adults, ensuring high standards of assessment, treatment and recovery-focused care. You will leadcollaborative care planning with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team, maintaining a strong emphasis on safety, dignity and personalised outcomes.
You will act as Responsible Clinicianfor patients detained under the Mental Health Act, contribute to complexdecision-making, and support effective transitions between inpatient and community services. The role includes close working with crisis teams, liaisonpsychiatry and community mental health teams to promote timely admissions and discharges.
In addition, you will provide clinical supervision to junior doctors, contribute to teaching and service development, and actively participate in clinical governance, quality improvement and leadership activities within the Trust.

Person Specification Research- Ability to interpret published research and to apply research findings to clinical practice.
- Aptitude for and practical experience of research.
