Job Summary

Band 6 MSK Physiotherapist
, Totnes Community Hospital and Ashburton Health and Wellbeing Centre, part‑time and full‑time hours, Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust.

• Provide a high standard of physiotherapy service to people presenting at musculoskeletal outpatient clinics.
• Act as a source of expertise on assessment and management of general MSK patients, supporting other healthcare professionals.
• Educate and train physiotherapists, students and other staff in physio therapeutic management of general MSK conditions.
• Offer rehabilitation classes, acupuncture, steroid injections and 1:1 treatment within the MSK service.
• Maintain close multidisciplinary team links.

• Diploma or degree in physiotherapy.
• State registration – current HCPC certificate.
• Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio.
• Experience with in the NHS as a Band 5 physiotherapist in musculoskeletal settings.
• Previous MSK experience equivalent to NHS Band 5/6.
• Advanced working knowledge of a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions.
• Experience of working as part of a physiotherapy team and multidisciplinary team.
• Clinical skills encompassing exercise therapy, pain relief, mobility training and therapeutic handling.
• Sound assessment skills with clinical reasoning and analytical ability.
• Proven ability of complex case management.
• Knowledge of relevant NSFs and clinical guidelines.
• Competent IT skills.
• Ability to maintain judgment under pressure.

• Qualification in acupuncture.
• Postgraduate qualification in relevant MSK skills (e.g., MACP, Society of Orthopaedic Medicine, Pilates, strength and conditioning).
• Band 6 experience within a musculoskeletal setting in the NHS.
• Training in staff appraisal.
• Presentation skills.
• Clinical educator course.
• Evidence of participation in clinical audit.

  Pro‑rated per annum depending on experience.
