Bookkeeper

Description

We are looking for a Bookkeeper to support an organization through accurate financial recordkeeping and reliable day-to-day accounting support. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can manage core bookkeeping functions, maintain organized financial documentation, and contribute to smooth monthly and annual accounting activities. The role works across payroll, receivables, payables, and reporting processes while helping uphold strong financial controls and high accounting standards.

Responsibilities:

- Maintain complete and accurate financial records for the organization, ensuring transactions are recorded in alignment with accepted accounting practices.

- Process and enter accounting activity related to payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and recurring financial transactions.

- Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules for month-end close activities and help keep reporting timelines on track.

- Reconcile accounts and review financial data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency across the general ledger.

- Support annual audit preparation by organizing documentation, assembling work papers, and responding to auditor information requests.

- Help preserve effective fiscal and administrative controls by following established procedures and identifying discrepancies when they arise.

- Update and maintain accounting process documentation so procedures remain clear, current, and accessible.

- Assist internal teams with accounting system support and contribute to additional finance-related projects as needed.

Requirements

- 3+ years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting support, or a closely related finance role.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or a similar field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered.

- Strong working knowledge of bookkeeping fundamentals, general accounting principles, and financial record maintenance.

- Experience with computerized accounting platforms.

- Background handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll entries, bank reconciliations, and journal entries.

- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail when entering and reviewing financial data.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.

- Sound problem-solving abilities, strong judgment, and a dependable, ethical approach to work.
