Assistant Animal Technician

Animal Technician – Tranent

For the past 75 years, Charles River has dedicated itself to the discovery, development and safe manufacture of new drug therapies. We are seeking experienced Animal Technicians to join our world‑class facility in Tranent.

In this role, you will perform routine and moderately complex animal husbandry and clinical observations in a regulatory‑compliant laboratory setting.

Responsibilities include:

• Husbandry duties / delivering essential care and well‑being services to the animals
• Positive interaction with animals, including providing treats, fruit and vegetables
• Participating in animal training programmes
• Handling animals for procedures
• Performing physical environment cleanliness and upkeep and maintaining accurate records
• Documenting animal behaviours and activities

Candidate requirements:

• Minimum of 4 Nat 5 or equivalent qualifications
• Passion for working with animals with a commitment to their welfare
• Positive attitude, good work ethic and reliable attendance record
• Physically able to be active and on your feet most of the working day
