RINA is currently recruiting for a  Italy Safety Plan Approval Engineer  to join its office in Trieste, Italy within the  Mediterranean and Africa Marine  Division.

Mission
This role focuses on supporting the elaboration of detailed plan and design reviews, resolving issues related to conflicting design requirements, ensuring client requirements and applicable standards are met. Projects could include the approval of new building, conversion, and existing vessels and yachts.

Key Accountabilities

Review and approve drawings of safety, fire protection for ships and offshore units, on the basis of the assigned tasks.

Review and approve drawings of lifesaving appliances and navigation lights for ships and offshore units, on the basis of the assigned tasks.

Activities relevant to drawing approval for the issue of certificates for marine equipment for MED Directive and RINA Type Approval.

Verification of the compliance with Class Rules and Statutory Regulations (e.g. SOLAS Convention, COLREG Convention, National Flag requirements) for new buildings, ships in service, and ship’s conversions.

Assist clients providing guidance and support related to safety, fire protection, and lifesaving equipment. #LI-MP3

Qualifications

Understanding of maritime safety regulations (SOLAS, IMO) and their application in the approval of safety plans for ships.

Evaluate safety plans based on safety standards and regulations, ensuring proper implementation on ships.

Knowledge of various safety systems on ships, including fire safety systems, life-saving appliances, and emergency evacuation procedures.

Knowledge of the process of approving safety documentation for ships, including evaluating compliance with maritime safety regulations and recommending improvements.

Ability to work closely with senior engineers and other stakeholders, providing support to ensure the safety plan approval process runs smoothly.

Communication and reporting skills provide recommendations for safety improvements in compliance with regulations.

Education
Master’s Degree in Naval Engineering
