Senior Scientist I, Product Development (55075)
Join binx health as a Senior Scientist I in the Product Development team based in Trowbridge, UK. You will contribute to the creation and development of a range of applications and assays on the binx io, the world’s first FDA‑cleared, CLIA‑Waived point‑of‑care platform for chlamydia and gonorrhea testing. The role involves devising and leading tactical projects within the IVD design and development process, creating and assessing new NAAT technologies, optimisation, and integration of NAATs into robust and reproducible IVD products.

- Design and develop system‑based nucleic acid assays
- Compose well‑structured and unbiased experimental plans
- Execute high‑quality laboratory experiments
- Prepare technical reports summarising project outcomes and findings that inform design decisions
- Optimise assays to meet performance requirements and ensure patient safety
- Develop and prepare quality system procedures and documentation
- Autonomously manage tactical projects
- Apply appropriate statistical tests to analyse experimental data
- Mentor junior technical staff
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 3 years and a Master’s degree; or 2 years and a PhD.
- Strong laboratory‑based background
- Proven ability to plan and run tactical technical projects independently
- Logical and methodical approach to problem solving and investigations
- Multiplex PCR assay development and optimisation knowledge
- Experimental design, data analysis and effective communication of results
- Produce and present technical data confidently to a high quality
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Self‑motivated and willing to learn
- Good organisational and time‑management skills
- Attention to detail and well organised
- Experience autonomously managing projects
- Competence in word processing, spreadsheets, statistical analysis and use of databases
- MSc or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline
- Verification and validation of equipment or products
- Experience with in Quality Management and Regulatory frameworks
- Industrial NAAT IVD product development experience
- Laboratory management experience—including managing staff, behavioural practice and equipment servicing
- Experience mentoring junior staff members in technical experiments
