Applications are invited for the position of Speciality Doctor at Royal Cornwall Hospital NHS Trust. The post offered will be dependent on your experience within a Gastroenterology department.

An exciting opportunity is available to join a large, progressive, teaching hospital Gastroenterology department in Cornwall. The successful candidate will join a team of ten luminal gastroenterologists and four hepatologists. We deliver a broad set of specialty and subspecialty services supported by state-of-the-art equipment and excellent access to all the required support services. The department has strong links with other units within the South West Peninsula and also with large units around the country.

Previous experience within Gastroenterology at Specialty Doctor level is essential.

Main duties of the job
  • Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of Gastroenterology patients.
  • To develop subspecialty interests and skills supported as required by the department
  • To share with colleagues responsibility for the day to day management of the Gastroenterology department.
  • Teaching and training of medical students and post-graduate doctors
  • To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).
  • To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and Audit.
  • To attend meetings as appropriate.
  • Fulfill duties of weekly timetable.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • GMC Registration with a Full licence to practice
  • MRCP (UK) or equivalent
  • Higher Degree e.g. MD or PhD
  • GMC Specialist Register or working towards CESR qualification
Experience
  • Teaching (Medical Students, peers, MDT)
  • Experiencing of working within Gastroenterology
  • Experienced in Clinical Audit and Clinical Governance
  • Train the trainers course
  • Management course
