Job Summary
The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) is the main provider of acute and specialist care services in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. This role is open to the Cornwall healthcare community only and offers a structured development pathway toward advanced clinical practice in pain management. The successful candidate will deliver specialist biopsychosocial assessment and evidence-based treatment for individuals living with persistent pain, working under the supervision of an Advanced Specialist Physiotherapist and an Advanced Specialist Occupational Therapist.
- Undertake clinical assessments for patients with persistent pain, often with complex biopsychosocial presentations.
- Develop, implement and evaluate specialist therapy interventions, including pain rehabilitation programmes.
- Produce accurate contemporaneous documentation.
- Essential Qualifications
- HCPC Registration
- Educated to degree level
- Evidence of reflective practice in related topics
- Essential Experience
- Minimum of 3 years post-registration relevant clinical experience
- Experience working with persistent pain or other long‑term conditions
- Experience in face‑to‑face consultations requiring a high standard of empathy, listening and explanation skills
- Participation in training and courses relevant to self‑management of long‑term health conditions
- Desirable Qualifications
- Membership of a professional body (CSP/BAOT)
- Related MSc clinical module or working towards postgraduate study in a related subject, preferably at MSc module level or equivalent
- Active membership of the British Pain Society or Physiotherapy Pain Society
- Desirable Experience
- Participation in patient‑focused, group‑based education and treatments
- Experience working in an interdisciplinary team
- Experience developing patient‑focused information in a variety of formats
