We're searching for a Principal Social Worker who embodies leadership, expertise, and a deep commitment to improving outcomes for children, adolescents, families, and carers.
Reporting to a Team Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping high-quality statutory social work - developing practice, supporting colleagues, influencing service improvement, and acting as a professional role model across the organisation.
🧭 Key Responsibilities
You will:
✨ Model and promote the values and ethics of the profession
✨ Build strong partnerships with children, adolescents, parents/carers, and extended networks
✨ Act as a corporate parent for children in care - supporting recovery from trauma and promoting emotional permanence
✨ Support adolescents preparing for leaving care by providing guidance, advice, and stability
✨ Undertake complex statutory assessments, planning, interventions, and reviews
✨ Maintain high-quality case recording, analysis, and documentation
✨ Provide reflective supervision and appraisal to other practitioners
✨ Contribute to Quality Assurance, Performance Management, and service-wide improvement projects
✨ Lead practice development, specialist knowledge areas, and task & finish groups
✨ Use validated research and evidence-informed practice to enhance service quality
✨ Foster strong multi-agency relationships and collaborative working
✨ Maintain professional registration standards and uphold best practice
✨ Deputise for the Team Manager and participate in strategic working groups
