Stroke Consultant

We’re recruiting a Locum Consultant in Stroke Medicine for a 12‑month post (maternity leave cover) based in Swindon
. You’ll join a friendly, well‑established team of 10 senior clinicians within a combined neurology/stroke service, withcoa real scope to help shape and improve stroke care.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and innovative Stroke Consultant with a passion for high‑quality, evidence‑based stroke care and service improvement. You’ll contribute to:

• Hyperacute/acute stroke care, including thrombolysis
• Rapid access TIA clinics
• HASU ward rounds and outpatient stroke clinics
• Teaching, training, and supervision of junior colleagues
• Audit/QI and clinical governance, with opportunities to develop subspecialty interests

• 18‑bed acute stroke unit (including 4 HASU beds) plus a 15‑bed stroke rehabilitation ward
• Approximately 600 acute stroke patients per year
• Strong improvement journey, achieving consistent SSNAP Level B performance after significant service investment
• Active interest in stroke research

• 10 PAs total (indicatively 8.5 DCC / 1.5 SPA)
• Potential to participate in a regional out‑of‑hours thrombolysis rota (remote)

• Full GMC registration
• CCT (or equivalent) in a relevant specialty or within 6 months of CCT at interview
• Trained/experienced across all aspects of stroke medicine, with ability to lead MDT care and contribute to education and service development
