The role

The Graduate Maritime Civil Engineer will use technical training to develop engineering design solutions for maritime civil engineering structures elements made from steel, concrete, timber and other materials in accordance with relevant design codes. The role involves contributing engineering input at all project stages from inception to demolition, recycling and reuse.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare designs and analyses for maritime and associated structures, from initial concepts through to detailed designs.
  • Collect and collate design data.
  • Carry out inspections and surveys.
  • Produce design calculations, check and review calculations produced by others.
  • Produce sketch drawings and details for CAD drafting by others; check and review these prior to issue.
  • Prepare draft Bills of Quantities, Contract Documents and Specifications.
  • Prepare reports and presentations.
  • Undertake structural analyses and reporting.
  • Provide engineering judgment and advice; contribute to preparation of study reports.
  • Manage projects within the office, ensuring a profitable result and agreed programme. Contribute to developing the client base through proposal production.
Required skills and experience

  • Organised and structured: store data consistently and in a structured way.
  • Interest and experience in digital ways of working.
  • Personable: approachable, relatable and empathetic.
  • MEng or above in a Civil or Structural Engineering degree (or equivalent).
  • Security clearance: must obtain UK NSV Security Check (SC) clearance and hold a UK passport. DBS check will be conducted followed by a security check.
