The Occupational Safety Advisor will play a critical role in supporting project teams at the Dounreay site by providing proactive, practical, and high-quality safety advice.

You’ll help ensure that everyone goes home safe and well each day, while supporting the successful delivery of works in a complex construction environment.

This is a hands‑on, highly technical role requiring strong stakeholder engagement, sound judgement, and a people‑centred approach to safety leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide proactive safety advice and support to site and project teams to ensure effective implementation of the Safety Management System.
  • Monitor compliance with Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM) and work closely with contractor partners to deliver an incident‑free project.
  • Develop, review, and assure safety documentation for Client, Principal Designer, and Contractor roles to a high standard and within required timescales.
  • Participate in and lead risk assessments, safety inspections, incident investigations, performance analysis, and safety improvement campaigns.
  • Promote and embed a strong, positive safety culture across the project, consistently championing the principle: “if it’s not safe, we don’t do it”.
About You
  • Proven experience delivering safety support on large, complex construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation, particularly CDM Regulations 2015.
  • A pragmatic, flexible, and people‑focused approach with the confidence to challenge and influence at all levels.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
  • Clear, confident communicator with strong analytical skills and a structured approach to identifying risk and driving solutions.
  • Full UK Driving Licence required.
Working Pattern & Travel
  • Hybrid working model: 3 days onsite at Dounreay, 2 days remote.
  • No additional travel required beyond the agreed hybrid pattern.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced safety professional to contribute to a high‑profile project in the north of Scotland, supporting critical infrastructure delivery while upholding the highest standards of occupational safety.

If you’re a confident, solutions‑driven Safety Advisor ready for your next contract, we’d like to hear from you.
