Regulatory Chemical Compliance (Europe, Middle East, Africa and India) Student Placement

Join Lubrizol, a global leader in specialty chemicals, for an exciting student placement opportunity within the Product Safety and Compliance Department (PSCD) supporting the EMEAI region. This placement offers a unique blend of scientific knowledge application in a real-world regulatory context, giving you invaluable exposure to the workings of a multi-billion-dollar international business.

About the Role

As a student within our Regulatory Chemical Compliance team, you will be an integral part of a committed group of regulatory professionals ensuring our product safety and compliance with chemical regulations throughout Europe, Middle East, Africa, and India. This role is office-based at our Hazelwood location, providing hands‑on experience that bridges your scientific training and the practical demands of regulatory affairs within the specialty chemical industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading and managing projects aligned with Lubrizol's legal obligations, including compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations for both current and developing chemical products.
  • Ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of project data and documentation in line with internal performance metrics and external customer expectations.
  • Supporting daily regulatory operations in the region, encompassing product regulatory reviews and data management through SAP.
  • Participating actively in cross-functional meetings across PSCD and wider company teams, enhancing collaborative knowledge‑sharing and problem‑solving.
  • Developing and presenting technical posters for the Hazelwood Innovation Symposium and delivering presentations at joint research and development technical talks.
  • Engaging closely with a team of regulatory specialists, gaining experience in a niche scientific discipline aligned with business operations.
  • Collaborating with global colleagues across multiple time zones to handle compliance projects and operational activities efficiently.
  • Building productive relationships beyond PSCD, working with other business units to support regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
Qualifications and Experience Required
  • Currently studying a science‑related degree involving a year in industry, with at least a 2 : 1 predicted grade or above. Degrees in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related fields are advantageous but not essential.
  • A minimum grade C or above in A‑Level or equivalent Mathematics or Science subject. Chemistry A‑Level is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work effectively within a dynamic office‑based team environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities for oneself and in collaboration with a global team.
  • Attention to detail and a results‑driven attitude to ensure high‑quality project outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with team members and stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Proficient with relational databases and commonly used business software such as Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in capturing, interpreting, and managing data is highly valued.
