Highways Quantity Surveyor
You're a Quantity Surveyor who enjoys detail, ownership and seeing projects delivered safely, on time and to budget. In this role, you'll be a key commercial voice within multidisciplinary project teams, helping to shape some of the most interesting civil engineering schemes in the Leeds area. You'll have the autonomy to make a real impact while being supported by experienced colleagues who value your expertise.

You'll be working for a respected civil engineering contractor delivering a wide range of infrastructure projects. As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll be trusted to lead on commercial matters, build strong relationships with clients and subcontractors, and ensure your projects deliver profitable, sustainable outcomes.
What you'll be doing day to day
In this Quantity Surveyor position, you will:
Prepare and submit interim payment applications and project final accounts
Use civil engineering standard forms of contract, including NEC3 and NEC4
Raise and manage early warnings and play a key role in risk reduction
Notify, assess and submit quotations for compensation events
Procure sub-contractors in line with the project programme
Carry out contract administration of sub-contracts
Assess sub-contractors' payment applications, issue payment notices and arrange payments
Agree sub-contract final accounts
Measure quantities both on site and from drawings where required
Produce accurate internal valuations, sub-contract liabilities and cost value reconciliations in line with the commercial reporting timetable
Work closely with the project team to monitor progress and effectively manage risks and opportunities
Help ensure good quality and accurate site records are kept and maintained
You may also be asked to support other reasonable duties from time to time that fall within the scope of the role.
What you'll need to bring
You will be well suited to this Quantity Surveyor role if you have:
Qualifications & experience
Experience working on civil engineering projects
Familiarity with NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts
Skills & attributes
Excellent written, verbal and telephone communication skills
Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate work to deadlines
A proactive "can do / will do" attitude
Reliable, punctual and focused on working safely and efficiently
Good time management and organisational skills
Professional, polite and approachable manner
Open to new ideas and other viewpoints
Takes responsibility for managing own performance and personal development
Keeps colleagues informed of progress on key tasks
Valid UK driving licence
